Sarracenia Maroon pitcher plants are tubular upright pitchers. They are a hybrid of Sarracenia Purpurea and Sarracenia Rubra resulting in pitcher that are a deep red maroon color, grow 8-12” and have dark red fragrant blooms in the spring. Pitcher plants have a solution in the bottom of the pitchers which poisons the bugs that think they are drinking water. The plant then through absorption uses the nutrients from the decomposing bug to feed itself. These plants are rooted in a 4” pot. The pot has holes in bottom, we recommend placing the pot in tray of water once weekly or as the top of moss dries out until you find a new home like a terrarium/aquarium work well or just something you can gather humidity in. We generally replant them into their new homes using sphagnum moss or peat. This variety needs full sun during the growing season but can tolerate some filtered light. The more light the plants get the more maroon hues will come out.

All plants are grown outside therefore leaves may show some environmental imperfections.
