Nepenthes Ventricosa aka Carnivorous Pitcher Plant

The Nepenthes Ventricosa aka carnivorous pitcher plants have elongated hour glass shaped pitchers with a large mouths that range in colors from light green to burgundy. The pitchers form with closed lids until they are ready to eat, then the top opens emitting a pheromone while making a liquid inside the pitchers which insects thinking they will get a drink. The bottle shape makes it difficult for insects to leave and they are eventually dissolved by the plants juices. Pitcher plants thrive in a humid warm brightly lit environment keeping its soil somewhat moist.

These plants are grown in a 4” pot.
