Ipomoea Batatas Marguerite aka Sweet Potato Vine

The Marguerite variety sweet potato vine has bright lime green heart shaped leaves that eventually develop lobes. These bloom pale purple pink trumpet flowers. These plants are easy to grow and very hearty taking temperatures in the 30’s here in Florida with no leaf loss though they will not tolerate those temperatures for too long. You can use them as a ground cover or even in a hanging baskets to trailing over the sides of your decorative potted arrangements. I like to mix the varieties in one pot for an eye catching hanging basket. We water once per week depending on light, more sun will make you have to water them more often.

I have read that although these varieties are chosen as an ornamental varieties. The potatoes they make are still edible but don’t grow to the size of normal sweet potatoes with some having a little bit of a bitter taste. Please do not take my word for it and Please research everything yourself before consuming.

These plants are grown in a 4” pot.

All plants are grown outside therefore leaves may show some environmental imperfections. White spotting on leaves is residual from Neem Oil used to control insects, mites and fungus.
